ABOUT THE ISLAND

Omadhoo in a few words

Omadhoo is a small, relaxed island in South Ari Atoll with a number of family-run guesthouses. It has a school, a mosque and a calm village atmosphere, and most visitors come to get out on the water.

Its position in South Ari Atoll puts you close to some of the best marine life in the Maldives, and the guesthouses organise trips directly.

FAMOUS FOR

What Omadhoo is known for

Diving

Several guesthouses are linked to dive centres, so you can go from beginner discover-dives to experienced reef and channel dives without leaving the island.

Manta rays and whale sharks

Snorkel trips go out to look for manta rays and whale sharks in South Ari Atoll. Sightings depend on the season and the day.

Sandbanks and picnic islands

Boat trips to sandbanks and uninhabited picnic islands, including sunset trips and overnight options, are easy to arrange.

A quiet village

Evenings are slow and peaceful. It is a good place to unplug if you do not need a busy main street.

HOW TO GET THERE

Reaching Omadhoo

Ferry and speedboat times change by season and by day. Share your flight and we confirm the right transfer for your dates.

Omadhoo is in South Ari Atoll, about 74 km from Malé. Visitors usually travel by speedboat from Malé or by a domestic flight to a nearby airport followed by a short boat transfer, depending on the day.

A public ferry also serves the island on set days, but it is slow, so most guests use a speedboat or a flight. We confirm the best choice for your arrival and departure times.
