Embudu Village

About

Embudu Village is a laid-back island resort in South Malé Atoll, about 20 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. There are two kinds of room. Superior Beach Bungalows sit right on the sand with a private patio, and Water Villas stand over the lagoon, each with a window at sea level so you can watch the fish from inside. Meals are buffets in the Main Restaurant, on Full Board or All Inclusive, so there is little to plan once you arrive. The house reef and the Diverland dive centre are the main draws, along with snorkelling, water sports, a spa and excursions. Embudu suits divers, snorkellers and couples who want a simple, friendly island holiday close to the airport rather than a large resort with lots of extras.

Dining & facilities

The Main Restaurant serves international buffets: breakfast 07:00–09:15, lunch 12:30–14:00 and dinner 19:30–21:00. There is also a Bar & Coffeeshop, and private dining can be arranged on the beach or in the garden, including a seafood barbecue. The All Inclusive package covers meals, snacks and drinks, from soft drinks to cocktails. The island has a spa and a gym.

Things to do

Diving is run by Diverland, with a house reef right off the island. Snorkelling, water sports and boat excursions can all be booked on the island.

Getting There

Speedboat from Velana International Airport takes about 20 minutes. On arrival, look for the Kaimoo Resorts and Hotels booth (A10). Shared and private transfers are available.
