Dhigurah is a slim local island in South Ari Atoll, edged by one of the longest beaches in the Maldives and sitting right beside the South Ari Marine Protected Area – the best place in the country to swim with whale sharks, which feed here all year round. This package keeps it simple: a comfortable balcony room at White Sand Dhigurah, breakfast and dinner every day, and the three trips most people come for. You spend the rest of your time on the beach, on the house reef or cycling the island's sandy lanes.

Meet your speedboat at Velana Airport for the trip to Dhigurah (about 1 hour 30 minutes). Check in, settle into your balcony room and catch sunset on the long beach.

Head out into the South Ari Marine Protected Area to look for whale sharks with an experienced guide. Sightings are frequent but never guaranteed.

A free day. Walk the beach to the island's sandbank tip, snorkel the house reef or hire a bicycle.

Snorkel at a manta point where these gentle giants come to feed and be cleaned.
